<br />----..--------- <br />- ~..--~---- <br /> <br />-23- <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />Company of any of its Big Thompson Project Water, I <br />am attaching to this letter, a letter from the Presi- <br />dent of Bijou Irrigation Company which I believe. fully <br />covers this subject, and again shows that there is no <br />fact or truth in the rumor and is typical of the type <br />of personal attack that is made upon me by a limited <br />number of persons whom I assume are doing so, for <br />personal reasons, not out of any general conccrn. <br />Certainly, this type of charge that is based cntirely <br />upon rumor without any fact at all, is regrettable <br />and typical of thc entire nature of the attacks made <br />upon me by a few individuals." <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />The letter from the president of the Bijou company is as <br /> <br />follows: <br /> <br />"A. R81ph owens, state Engineer <br />state Services Building <br />525 Sherman street <br />Dcnver, Colorado 80203 <br /> <br />"Dear Mr, .OWens: <br /> <br />"This lettcr is written by the Bijou Irrigation <br />Company to correct the impression in paragraph 1, <br />page 4 of the letter of Novembcr 7, 1966, written <br />by Felix L. sparks, Director of the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board, concerning John L. Samples, <br />Water Commissioner of Water District No.1. <br /> <br />"The Bijou Irrigation Company (not the Bijou <br />Irrigation District) did own 6,000 units of Colorado <br />Big Thompson project Water and owned the same from <br />the beginning of the projcct. Early in 1960, Mr. <br />Samples was at the board meeting, and told them <br />that thcre were buyers for the C. B. T. water. <br />There were no negotiations, no price, and Mr. Samples <br />had nothing whatcver to do with the sale of the <br />Big Thompson water. <br /> <br />"On January 28, 1961, the board authorized the <br />salc of 3,000 units of this water. After long nego- <br />tiations, handlcd entirely by this Board and employees <br />of the Company, a contract was made on July 1, 1961, <br />with the Little Thompson Water Association, Fort <br />Collins-Lovcland Water District and Lcfthand Land <br />and Watcr Company, and the sales price was $3,000 <br />per unit. Each of the companies contracted for <br />1,000 units and each company paid $3,000 cash on <br />the contract.
