-19-

They then showed us the stub for check No. 14, draw~ by the

Left Hand Land & Water Company, dated February 6, 1961, to the

Bijou Irrigation Company "for option and 1961 assessments on 1,000

.

units Big T Water," in the amount of $2,500.

.

They also showed us the stub for check No, 15, dated February

6, 1961 to the Bijou Irrigation Company for "same as No. 14," in

the amount of $1,000,

(In our later discussion with Mr. Dodd he indicated that the

1961 assessment, which they were required to pay under their agree-
ment with the Bijou, amounted to $l.50 per unit or $l,500 on the
1,000 units. This means that $1,500 of check No. l4 was paid for
the 1961 assessment, and $1,000 went for the option.)

After considering all of these checks together, it appears

as though Mr. Dodd's recollection is correct that the various

Left Hand companies paid $3,000 for the option on their l,OOO units

of Big T Water, $l,500 for the 1961 assessment, and later paid

$27,000 as the balance of tho purchase price, for a total of

$30,000.

Hicks stated that the lawyer for the various Left Hand com-

panies, from the beginning, was John S. Hough of Longmont.

We thon interviewed Alva Dodd of Niwot, who discussed the

transaction with us, He stated that the Left Hand Company bought

3,000 units for $30 each, or a total of $90,000, on an option, and

that the other two districts each later picked up 1/3 of the

.

option. The other two districts reimbursed the Left Hand district

.

for the amount it had advanced on the option.

(See check No. l,

dated November 7, 1960, above,)

He stated that it was comMon knowledge in the area that the

I\OO(1/iARD.CLYDE.SHFRARO AND ASSOCll\lES

.

"i..
