088i),

.

.

Piceance basin. Recreation and fish and wildlife are also project
purposes. We anticipate the proposed feasibility report scheduled
for completion at the end of this fiscal year will be delayed a few
months.

Preparations are being made to initiate land classification arid
drainage investigations on the Basalt Project area in the spring.
This work will be accomplished with funds contributed by the Basalt
Water Conservancy District.

There are no new developments to report on the Animas-La Plata,
Dolores, Dallas Creek, San Miguel, and West Divide Projects.

Advance Planning

A field draft of the Fruitland Mesa Project definite plan report
is under review in this office. Revised feasibility estimates for
Soap Park Dam and Reservoir have been received from the Chief Engineer
and are being incorporated into the report. Fi~ncial and economic
analysis studies are in progress. Draft reports have bee~ received
from the Forest Service and the Bureau of Sport Fisheriesrand Wildlife.
Their evaluations of costs and benefits are being used in economic and
financial evaluations of the project. Supplements to the Operation,
Maintenance, and Replacement; Project Lands; and Drainage Appendices
are essentially completed. We anticipate the definite plan report
will be completed within the next two to four months.

The Bureau of Land Management has submitted a cost-sharing pro-
posal which would update cadastral surveys in the Savery-Pot Hook
Project area. Preliminary meetings have been held with conservancy
district officials to discuss forthcoming farm surveys, farm size
determinations, and farm budget studies. We plan to discuss this
proposal with the conservancy district officials at an early date.
Fieldwork necessary to update the land classification in the Pot Hook
and Savery Canal service areas has been completed. Drainage investi-
gations in these areas are continuing. The definite plan report is
scheduled for completion in F.Y. 1969.

7
