THE MORGAN GAME AND FISH . 304,1 CONSERVATION CLUB JUDGE CLIFFORD STONE COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD DEN"ER, COLORADO Fort Morgan, Colorado January 29, 1952 SIR: Since interested organizations are requested to express themselves in regard to the proposed Narrows Dam near Fort Morgan, Colorado, our organi- zation wishes to express themselves as follows: Our Club almost unanimously favor, and look forward to, recreational privileges which we anticipate this will supply, as has been proven in almoSt every other Reclamation storage project. However, there is a strong local sentiment to the effect that by utiliz- ing the lower or Fort Morgan proposed site for a silt basin and control reser-, voir, and by using several higher up flood ponds, that the same results, and better, could be accomplished. We can locate no good surveys or reports covering such a plan; but it would appear that such a plan would do more to prevent erosion; would give jus.'; as much shelter to wild life; might add to the ground water on some of the uplands; and could include a settling and control basin, below the junction of the Bijou Creek and South Platte River, which could be' sixty or more feet deep, thus being more on the waste lands and without destroying all the 19 ri- culture and towns of the Weldona Valley.
