Irrigated acreage and water consumption under the

senior decrees will not increase due to the changes in use.

Golf Course and Country Club Water Supply

Golf course and landscaping irrigation water will be provided through

diversions at the Zapata pipeline. as well as through diversions through

more shallow wells. In the early part of the season (April through mid-

August) sufficient surface water will be available to provide for golf

course irrigation. In the late season (mid-August through October).

especially in years of below-average water availability. water for

irrigation may be in short supply. During these periods. water needs for

the golf course will be provided through the shallow wells.

Water supply for the country club and residential facilities will be
provided through shallow wells. Existing smal1-capacity wells will be
used when possible. The permits for three of the existing wells which may
be used are inc luded in Appendix D. New permits will be sought for the
existing wells. allowing their use for the proposed development under the
augmentation plan,.

R.echarge Plan

To allow shallow well diversions during the mid-August through October

period. water will be recharged to the shallow aquifer at one or more of

the locations shown on Figure 3. Water for recharge is available due to

dry-up of about 32 acres of formerly-irrigated cropland within the

boundaries of the golf course. These lands constitute the "rough" areas.

lying between fairways. greens. and other irrigated landscaping. Table 11

outlines the balance between historic and future uses. and shows that

almost 40 acre-feet per year is available for recharge. over and above

the approximately 145 acre-feet per year required for golf course and

country club consumptive uses.

- 22 -
