Currenlly, H-I- :'-otecl c(ihk~ <br />~re being illstalled through the dam's concreic arch cillO left thrust block anJ into its <br />foundation to further help stabilize it and prevent it from disintegrating in the event of <br />an earlhquake. This work began in January 1991 and is scheduled to be completed in <br />Fcbruary 1992. <br /> <br />o <br /> <br />Theodore Roosevelt Dam <br /> <br />Realignment and widening or about 3 112 miles of the Apache Trail in the vicinity or the <br />dam has bcen completed. This work was performed to make the roadway safer for thc <br />lraveiing public and for construction workers. <br /> <br />Construction of new river outlet works for the dam continues, Thesc features include: <br /> <br />. a 20-foot-diameter, 58-foot-deep Inke tap shaft that will release watcr frolll <br />Roosevelt Lake to the river outlet tunneL The excavation or the vertical <br />portion of the lake tap shaft is complete and the stecllincr has becn installed, <br /> <br />. a 990-foot-long river outlet tunnel that will carry thc watcr from the lakc tap <br />to thc river below the dam; excavation is complete. <br /> <br />. a 356-foot-long branch tunnel, a power penstock tunnel, that will divert the <br />water from the lake tap to Rooscvelt Power plant; this tunncl has been fully <br />excavated, and backfill concrete placements around the sleclliner are <br />complete; <br /> <br />. a 31O-foOl-deep gale shaCt that will house the equipment necessary for <br />raising or lowering a gate into the river outlet works tunnel; concrcte lining of <br />this shaft is completc, <br /> <br />The Roosevelt Dam modifications contract was awarded last Febroary to J.A. Jones <br />Construction Company and is scheduled to be completed by July 1995. The modificd <br />dam will bc 77 feet highcr and will includc ncw spillways. <br /> <br />Water deliveries <br /> <br />Water users <br /> <br />About 34 separate enlities took waler from CAP in 1990, Allhough mosl CAP water is <br />currently being delivered under short-term interim ClH1lracls.
