I'm <br /> <br />the River Division Superintendent for the Imperial Irrigation <br /> <br />District. This is the statement of Imperial Irrigation <br /> <br />District at the hearing regarding the flood control releases <br /> <br />from Hoover Dam. <br /> <br />section 6 of the Boulder Canyon Project Act states <br /> <br />I i specifically, "That the Dam and Reservoir provided for by <br /> <br />,. <br />, . <br /> <br />", <br /> <br />: I Ii <br />" <br /> <br />Section 1 hereof shall be used: First, for River regulation, <br /> <br />improvement of navigation, and flood control; second, for <br /> <br />irrigation and domestic uses and satisfaction of present <br /> <br />, <br /> <br />perfected rights in performance of Article VIII of said <br /> <br />Colorado River compact; and third, for power." <br /> <br />It is important to point out that the first priority <br /> <br />stated in the Boulder Canyon Project Act is the operation <br /> <br />of Hoover Dam on the Colorado River for River regulation <br /> <br />and flood control. <br /> <br />The united States Bureau of Reclamation has done <br /> <br />an admirable job of fulfilling the contract requirements for <br />
