<br /> <br />- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />..... . ;. <br /> <br />Highland Dam located on the Purgatoire River some 15 miles upstream from <br /> <br />that rivers confluence with the A.rkansas River. <br /> <br />It is recommended that the gaging station near the mouth of the Purga. <br /> <br />toire be repaired. <br /> <br />It is recommended that some type of station be established well up. <br /> <br />stream from the mouths of all major tributaries to report flood flows. <br /> <br />GENEItAL RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> <br />It is urgently recommended that, insofar as is possible, all gaging <br /> <br />stations having a history of operation of five years or more be kept in operation. <br /> <br />Any wholesale relocation of existing stations would be very injurious to the <br /> <br />program of stream flow record. <br /> <br />Specifically it is recommended that establishment of the proposed <br /> <br />llChaffee Station II , which is to be located some six miles below the existing <br /> <br />liSalida Stationll. be not considered reason for abandonment of the "Sal1da <br /> <br />Stationll. <br /> <br />It is recommended that every effort be made to assist the State <br /> <br />Engineer in securing an increased number of competent personnel for field <br /> <br />placement. <br /> <br />It is recommended that the present program for promoting better und <br /> <br />understanding and relationship between the water user of the lower Arkansas <br /> <br />Valley and of the Upper J\rkansas Valley be vigorously pursued. <br /> <br />{.\. ry -,--;;",,,- ~ (l.
