~
co
-::>
-1

REPORT OF ENGINEER ADVISORS
TO THE
COSTILLA CREEK COMPACT COMMISSION

, ,

May 2, 1974

\.-~;..~

REPORT OF DELIVERIES

The 1973 computations of allocations and deliveries of water

under the ~ended Costilla Creek Compact indicate the following:

Direct Flow

(1) Via Costilla Creek below the Cerro Diversion Dam, New

Mexico used 1,385 acre-feet less than her allocation and 6,724

acre-feet in excess of Colorado's allocation passed the state line

gage, Costilla Creek at Garcia. A total of 6,530 acre-feet of

the 6,724 acre-feet of excess flow occurred during surplus water

periods. Most of the excess at the Garcia gage flowed down

Costilla Creek for delivery to Eastdale Reservoir No.1, Jaroso

Mutual users and to the Rio Grande.

(2) New Mexico received an over~delivery of 318 acre-feet

and Colorado an under-delivery of 203 acre-feet through the Acequia

Madre System. The over-delivery to New Mexico occurred during the

time there was surplus water in the system. The under-delivery to

Colorado was the result of the users not requesting or not being

able to divert all of the water that was available to them under

their allocation.

(3) New Mexico received an under-delivery of 2,210 acre-feet

and Colorado received an over-delivery of 412 acre-feet through the

Cerro Canal. Most of the under-delivery to New Mexico occurred
, Gv"'4--
during May and June and^due to maintenance on the Association Ditch.
