. .' O()l..g~~
.'-

ARKANSAS RIVER COMPACT ADMINISTRATION
U\MAR, COLORADO

October 29, 1952

Colorado 3ater Conservation Board,
212 Ste.te Office Ihildin6J
Denver 2, Colorado;

Gentlemen:

I have the privilege of transmitting statement approved by
the Arkansas River Compact Administration at their meeting in Lamar
October 28, concerning our ,alued friend and co-worker, the late Judge
Clifford H. Stone.

"In the Untimely and unexpected passing of Judge Clifford H.
Stone, Director of the Colorado Water Conservation Board,the
Arkansas River Compact Administration has lost a valued and
esteemed member, who was recognized as an authority on water and as
a conservation leader on local, state, regional, national.and
international levels.

Judge Stone, who has served on this Administration since it
was established in 1949, contributed immensely from his ,nde
experience and knowledge, to the solution of difficult p~oblems
which have confronted this Administration. All members of this
Administration recognize and appreciate the extraordinary understanding
and patience which Judge Stone contributed to their deliberationss

In the work of this Administration, as well as in all of his
other associations and contacts, Judge Stone was a painstaking,
conscientious, and tireless worker, who sacrified his own time and
well-being for the co~"on good of all.

The Administration deeply mourns the passing of Judge Stone,
whose devotion to duty and responsibility symbolized every high
qualification for public service.

Now therefore, be it resolved by the Arkansas River Compact
Administration that this statement be placed upon the record, and
a copy be sent to Judge Stone's family; to the Colorado Water
Conservation Board; and to the Governor of Colorado."

Respectfully submitted,

/s/ Harry C. Nevius, Secretary
