Clifford H.
Stone, aged 64 years, at New Orleans, Louisiana, on October
22, 1952.

"Judge" Stone, as he was generally and most familiarly known,
had for many years been director of the Colorado Water Conservation
Board, and his outstanding work in that capacity brought about the
successful administration of the Act which had created that Board.

He unselfishly devoted most of his adult life to the advancement of
reclamation, the development of sound water conservation practicDs and
procedures, and the e~olution of water law. Because of his unquestioned
integrity and sincerity, his exceptional ability and his vast experience
in matters relating to water and water rights, his opinions and judgment
were respected not only in his home State of Colorado, b~t in all other
western states and by the representatives of the Federal Government. As
a result of his untiring efforts, he left a monumental conoribution to so-
lutions of the many water problems of the arid Vlest.

In the important &ud complicated Arizona water litigation commonly
knovm as "The Buckeye Via~er Suit," Judge Stone served with distinction
as mediator; and his ~~sdom and justness, and the esteem in vmich he was
held by the parties, brouu~t about its satisfactory settlement.

THEREFORE, BE l'l' r,E,SOLVED by the Board pf Directors of Arizona
Water Conserva~.on Association:

1.
ci tizen
tion of

This Association notes with deep regret the loss of a
of the West whose contribution to the development and conserva-
its water resourc€s will never be forgotten.

2. The sympathy of this Association is extended to the surviving
relatives of the deceased.

I h~REBY CERTIFY that I am the duly elected, qualified and acting
Secretary of ARlZOHA 1,'fATSR CONSERVATION ASSOCIATION; that the above is
a true and correct copy of a Resolution adopted at a meeting of the Board
of Directors of said Association duly held on the 23d day of October, 1952
at the office of the Association in Phoenix, Arizona; that the same has
been duly recorded in the minutes of said Association and has never been
amended, rescinded or revoked.
IN l'IITHESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and affixed the
Seal of said Association this 23d day of October, 1952.

/ s/ Bryan Akers

~
