<br />026::) <br /> <br />J. Gordon Milliken, Ph.D., P.E. - Economics, environmental assessment <br />Dr. Milliken is a principal of Milliken Research Group, Inc. and research economist. He will ,$;,':::: <br />water markets, water marketing strategies, and economic impacts which may result from <br />implementation of the alternative water management scenarios. Dr. Milliken also has extensive <br />experience in salinity studies; this has panicular application for the water quality issues in the lower <br />Arkansas Valley, drawing knowledge from the Colorado River system and other work. Dr. Milliken <br />will direct the assessment of riparian effects of the water management scenarios to include the <br />research available on changes in habitats and water quality. <br /> <br />Sallye W. Smith. -- Research Librarian <br />Sallye Smith, Research Librarian, is a sole proprietor of a WBE Research fum. Ms. Smith will assist <br />in data collection, assembly and organization. Ms. Smith will be available ta the entire team and will <br />assist in preparation of the technical supplement to the Final Report. <br /> <br />Donald E. Nielsen -- Agronomy, soil science, land rehabilitation <br />Mr. Nielsen is a conservation agronomist, land reclamation consultant and lifetime resident of the r7 \ <br />Arkansas Valley. Most recendy, he has been a court-appointed expert tasked with evaluating the r-'~ <br />Arkansas Valley Range Project, the revegetatian program funded by the City of Aurora. Mr. Nielsen <br />will assemble and analyze soil and crop data from the u.s. Soil Conservation Service and others on ~u"'4 <br />lands under the Ft. Lyon Canal. Existing land uses for irrigated fanning have effects on the river ~ ~ II \ <br />which include soil erosion, sedimentation, fertilizer leachates, pesticides, etc. These must be ""'-\' t' <br />considered. He will guide the team in the formulation of soil impact analysis methods, water quality <ntr~ <br />impact assessments, and determination of mitigation strategies. <br /> <br />Charles F. Cortese, Ph.D. -- Sociologist, social impact assessment <br />Dr. Cortese is Associate Professor of Sociology and former Dean of The College, University of Denver, <br />and Head of the Department of Sociology. As a research sociologist, he has conducted research studies <br />and field work for social impacts analysis for various communities and regions in Colorado and <br />throughout the western United States. Sponsors include the National Park Service, the Bureau of Land <br />Management, the Colorado Department of Natural Resources, the Colorado Commission for Higher <br />Education and the National Science Foundation. Dr. Cortese will assemble and evaluate existing <br />demographic data. He will assist in development of methodologies for quantification and comparison <br />of sociological impacts of water transfers on populations within the study area, in cooperation with <br />Dr. Milliken and the project team. <br /> <br />Bill MiIenski - Real Property and Water Rights Appraisal <br />Mr. Milenski is an experienced agricultural and real estate appraiser and a long-time resident of the <br />Arkansas River Valley. He will manage land and water transaction data activities and provide liaison <br />to local fanning and financial interests within the study area. <br /> <br />Coverage of disciplines and areas of emphasis and responsibility are presented in the following table. <br /> <br />4 <br />
