<br />categories, namely machinery and fabricated metal and transportation
<br />equipment, become more significant in the latter part of the fore-
<br />cast period. The projection of manufacturing output increases from
<br />$56 mil I ion in 1965 to S434 mill ion by the end of the forecast
<br />peribd. During the same projection period, employment wi! I nearly
<br />double from the 2,000 persons employed in manufacturing in 1965.

<br />Ninety-four percent of the water requirement in the year 2020 will be
<br />for the irrigation of crops (Table 4-10). In 1965, 108,800 acre-feet
<br />of water was used for irrigation. By the end of the projection period
<br />this fugure will have increased to 1,622,600 acre-feet. All other water
<br />withdrawals in this region in 1965 tOtaled 26,300 acre-feet and should
<br />increase to 105,800 acre-feet by the end of the projection period.
<br />This region could account for approximately \1 percent of the total
<br />water requirement within the state by year 2020.
