This region could account for approximately 39 percent of <br />the state's total output in manufacturing by 2020. Transportation <br />equipment manufacturing will probably account for a significant portion <br />of the total manufacturing output in the region. The number of <br />employees in manufacturing may increase from 59,000 persons in <br />1965 to 81,000 by the end of the forecast period. <br /> <br />41. <br />
