<br />In November 2001, the Medicine
<br />Bow National Forest and the Stateof
<br />Wyoming hosted public meetings in
<br />Saratoga, Douglas, Cheyenne, and
<br />. .Laramie, It was standing room only
<br />.as ,we discussed Alternative Themes'
<br />forthe.Medicine Bow Forest Plan
<br />Revision. Interest was so high, in
<br />fact; we held four additional meet-
<br />:ings: Elk Mountain, Encampment,
<br />. Rawlins, and Baggs. More than 400
<br />. people attended one or more meet-
<br />ings:
<br />
<br />Two citizens 'groups, Biodiversity
<br />,Associates and Recniatii:mists of the
<br />Bow, presented their own Alterna-
<br />tive Themes at the' first four meet-
<br />
<br />ings. These groups, as well as indi:
<br />viduals, met often with the Planning
<br />, Team following the November meet-
<br />ings io refine and map Alternatives, .
<br />In February, another citizens' group,
<br />Rocky Mountain Activists Network,
<br />submitted the framework for an addi-
<br />tional Alternative, The Forest Ser- .'
<br />vice assisted the group in develop-
<br />ment of their Alternative and will in-
<br />clude it in the Range of Alternatives
<br />. for analysis and public comment
<br />The Planning Team is pleased to
<br />Cai-ry three Plan Alternatives devel-
<br />.' oped primarily by citizen groups.
<br />On the Medicine Bow public input
<br />does have impact:

<br />house public meetings in seven
<br />communities' in early March.
<br />
<br />Forest Se'rvice representatives
<br />from the Ranger Districts and the
<br />Planning Team will be on. hand to
<br />interpret new information and
<br />receive public comments.
