Eventually. <br />South Bay Aqueduct will extend some 45 mlles from the Delta to <br />Alrpoint Reservoir in Santa Clara County. <br /> <br />San Luis proj~ <br />The agreement between the United States and the State <br />of California providing for joint construction and use of San <br />Luis Reservoir. became effective on April 11. 1962. the required <br />90-day period having then elapsed without the Congress having <br />acted to affect the agreement. <br />By the end of fiscal year 1962-63. the Department of <br />water Resources will have transferred about $11.700.000 to the <br />Bureau of Reclamation and expended an additional $4.700.000 <br />which will be credited as part of the state's contribution to <br />the joint project. Reservoir and forebay rights-of-way, title <br />to which will be turned over to the bureau, are being purchased <br />by the State. Director Warne is appearing before committees of <br />Congress during the week of May 14 to support the President's <br />1962-63 budget request for appropriation of about $13.000.000 <br />toward construction of San Luis Unit. <br /> <br />To provide day-by-day liaison between the department <br />and the bureau in the design of the joint-use facilities. <br />Gordon Dukleth.
