<br />,- I~ <br /> <br />., '~n' ,"", <1-, ,~ <br />0026:34 <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />STATE OF CALIFORNIA <br />QUARTERLY REPORT FOR 62-2 MEETING <br />PACIFIC SOUTHWEST INTER-AGENCY COMMITTEE <br />REDDING, CALIFORNIA <br />JUNE 6-7, 1962 <br /> <br />oroville Dam <br />Opening of bids for construction of Oroville Dam is <br />scheduled for June 27, 1962. The job involves the placing of <br />about 77,000,000 cubic yards of fill and the construction of a <br />second diversion tunnel. It is estimated that bids will run in <br />excess of $100,000,000. The Associated General Contractors were <br />consulted during preparation of the specifications and a pre- <br />opening conference participated in by some one hundred repre- <br />sentatives of major construction firms has been held. <br />The construction industry has responded to picketing <br />by the laborers union by closing down a major part of construction <br />now underway in Northern California. This includes the first <br />diversion tunnel, which is about 30 percent complete, and should <br />settlement of the controversy be long delayed, it is possible <br />that it may be necessary to postpone the scheduled bid opening. <br /> <br />South Bay Aqueduct <br />On May 10, 1962, water was turned into the reach of <br />South Bay Aqueduct between the Delta-Mendota Canal and patterson <br />Reservoir in Livermore Valley. Contracts for State project water <br />have been signed with Zone 7 of the Alameda County Flood Control <br />and Water Conservation District and the Alameda County Water <br />District. Until such time as State facilities for diversions <br /> <br />from the Delta are available, water for these early deliveries <br />
