<br />Report of Policy and Review Committee <br />on First Stage of <br />Proposed Gunnison-Arkansas Project <br /> <br />June 14, 1950 <br /> <br />To: The Colorado Water Conservation Board <br /> <br />On September 1, 194B, the Director of Region 7, Bureau of Reclamation, <br />transmitted to the Governor of Colorado copies of a preliminary draft of a <br />planning report, with accompanyinG appendices, dated June 1948, on the. first <br />stage of the proposed Gunnison-Arkansas Project, Colorado. The Director of <br />Region 7 requested the State to review the report in its preliminary draft form <br />and submit informal co~~ents for consideration in the preparation of a report <br />on such project in final form for transmittal to the Commissioner of Reclama- <br />tion and the Secretary of the Interior. <br /> <br />vation <br />of the <br /> <br />Such report was referred to the Office of the Colorado Nater Conser- <br />Board. This Board, on September 28, 1948, in respect to such request <br />Director of Region 7, took the following action: <br /> <br />.' <br /> <br />"It was moved by Mr. Beaty, and duly seconded, that the <br />Board authorize the creation of a Policy and Review C~~ittee <br />for study of the Interim Report on the first stage of the <br />proposed Gunnison-Arkansas Project, and that such Committee <br />be composed of two representatives from the Arkansas Valley, <br />two representatives of the area in Western Colorado affected <br />by the proposed diversion progr~m, two representatives of the <br />Colorado Nater Conservation Board designated as Director <br />Stone and R, J, Tipton, Consulting Engj.neer, and one repre- <br />sentative of the City of Colorado Spring3; and further that <br />John Beaty be responsible for securing the appointmc,nt of <br />the Arkansas River Valley representatives and Director <br />Stone arrange for the appointment of representatives for <br />.Vestern Colorado; that such commi t tee report froOl t.ime to <br />time to the Color~.do '.iater Conservation Board so that the <br />Board may formulate its final comments for submission to <br />the BurcRu of Hecl<lJTlation on such proposed project develop- <br />ment; "-nd t:;.~.t such committee from time to time meet with <br />reprcsentr:.t.i vos of the Bureau of Reclamation. It <br /> <br />The Policy and Review Committee, after appointments thereto hRd been <br />completed, consisted of Clifford H. Stone, Director of the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board, Chairman; Royce J. Tipton, Consulting Engineer of the <br />Board; Frank C, Delaney Rnd Judge Hume S. ,fuite, representing Western Colorado; <br />Harold H. Christy and Charles J. Beise, representing the Arkansas Valley; <br />Fredrick T. Henry, representing Colorado Springs (previously the City Manager <br />of Colorado Springs served on the Co~~ittee); and Cleland Feast, Commissioner <br />of the Colorado Game and Fish Commission (Feast was added to the Committee <br />when it became evident that fish and wildlife fentureS' were inv<'llved'in the <br />proposed project.) <br /> <br />0661 <br />
