'--' ". <br />;J. ~.....l__.' . . , . .~" . <br /> <br />This report summarizes Saline Water Transport and Use Office plannin9 <br />and related activities on the AQUATRAIN Project for the previous <br />month and anticipated activities for the next 2 months. The purpose <br />of the report is to inform individuals involved with AQUATRAIN <br />of current and upcoming activities so that a coordinated effort <br />can be maintained and project flag dates met. <br /> <br />***NOTE*** Pending review of the project by the new owners of <br />Aquatrain, Inc., Reclamation has temporarily suspended <br />its pUblic involvement. <br /> <br />2.0 SUBTEAM: WATER RIGHTS/WATER SUPPLY/STATE ISSUES <br />2.1 DECEMBER EVENTS <br /> <br />Attended Colorado River Water Users Association in Las Vegas. <br />Attendees, particularly power companies and water users, <br />expressed great interest in the Project. <br /> <br />Briefed Riverton, Wyoming Rotary Club, A positive response <br />was received to AQUATRAIN concepts, Afterwards, a briefing <br />to local Wyoming State legislators elicited receptive comments <br />and questions. <br /> <br />T. p, Clark (Western Water Reserves) suggested that a member <br />of his staff, Tim Giles, participate in this subteam. <br /> <br />3.0 SUBTEAM: COAL MARKET/COAL SUPPLY (McKeever) <br />3.1 DECEMBER EVENTS <br /> <br />Definition of coal markets and supplies continued, <br /> <br />3.3 ANTICIPATED FEBRUARY EVENTS <br /> <br />Brief Utah Coal Operators Association. <br /> <br />4,0 SUBTEAM: FINANCIAL/ECONOMIC (McKeever) <br />4,1 DECEMBER EVENTS <br /> <br />Representatives of Lakehead Pipeline Co., Inc., a U.S. subsidiary <br />of Interprovincial Pipe Line Limited of Canada, completed <br />their review of the AQUATRAIN Project. The conclusion reached <br />is that water slurry is only marginally competitive for <br />Stage I of AQUATRAIN, but CO2 slurry provides major cost <br />advantages. <br />
