( !' <br />(.,.1.1..:- , <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />Recommendations <br /> <br />To mitigate losses to the extent feasible and to capitalize on the <br />opportunities for enhancing fish and wi Idlife, it is recommended that: <br /> <br />I. Fish and wildlife be included among the purposes for <br />which the project is authorized. <br /> <br />2. A minimum instantaneous flow of 50-second feet be <br />maintained in the South Platte River below Narrows <br />Rese rvo i r Dam. <br /> <br />3. Pub] ic access for fishing be provided along 5.5 mi les <br />of the South platte River just below Narrows Reservoir <br />Dam. <br /> <br />4. Jackson Reservoir Dam be rehabilitated following which <br />Jackson Reservoir, with sufficient water for its stabi- <br />lized operation for fish and wildlife and recreation in <br />general, be made avai lable to the Colorado Department <br />of Game, Fish and Parks. <br /> <br />5. Approximately 15,765 acres of land, together with any <br />associated water rights and appropriate development, <br />be made avai lable to the Colorado Department of Game, <br />Fish and Parks for a wi Idlife management area in accord- <br />ance with a General Plan as provided in Sections 3 and 4 <br />of the Fish and Wi Idlife Coordination Act (48 Stat. 401, <br />as amended; 16 U.S.C. 66\ et seq.). <br /> <br />6. A zoning plan for Narrows Reservoir be developed coopera- <br />tively by the Bureau of Reclamation and the Colorado <br />Department of Game, Fish and parks to insure the avai la- <br />bility of adequate and safe areas for fishing and hunting. <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Jackson Reservoir Dam. It is estimated that it would cost $125,000 to <br />rehabi litate the dam to Reclamation standards and that the annual opera- <br />tion, maintenance, and replacement of the dam and other works related <br />to the stabi I ized operation of the reservoir would be about $18,000. <br />These costs are based on 1965 prices. <br /> <br />Wildlife Manaqement Area. The 15,765-acre area, as shown on Plate I I at <br />the end of this report, would consist of 12,245 acres of project-acquired <br />lands and an additional 3,520 acres to be acquired in fee title.
