<br />. <br /> <br />The CIFSG considers this a matter deserving of outright recognition <br /> <br />and treatment in specific, not general, terms in any assessment of <br /> <br />....... <br />-.J <br />-.J <br />....,. <br /> <br />water availability for EET's or any other use of instream flows <br /> <br /> <br />which may be proposed for superimposition upon present levels of <br /> <br /> <br />depletion. <br /> <br />The second and thi rd paragraphs of the February 1 memorandum were <br /> <br /> <br />drafted by the Study Manager's staff and were incorporated verbatim <br /> <br /> <br />by the CIFSG. The remainder was developed by the CIFSG through <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />telephone conferences wi th respons ib 1 e persons inState agenci es <br />charged with the management of fishery resources and maintenance of <br />adequate opportunities for an ever increasing number of sport <br />fishermen. The availability of adequate instream flow is vital to <br />any management objectives designed to achieve that goal. <br /> <br />Summarizing as briefly as possible the specifics contained in <br />attachment I, it is noted: <br /> <br />a. that the Colorado River Fishes Recovery Team, acting under <br /> <br /> <br />authority of the Endangered Species Act, places particular <br /> <br /> <br />importance upon maintainance of necessary habitat conditions <br /> <br /> <br />for the Colorado squawfish in the Green River in Utah and <br /> <br />changes in Colorado River flow regimes to promote natural <br />reproduction of this species. <br /> <br />b. <br /> <br />that the Wyoming Game and Fish Department has recommended, in <br />connection with the Green River downstream from Fontenelle Dam, <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />59 <br />
