U' f' ")" '?
.. ,,- ) 't .
'v L.J l ...l

PLAN I AND PLAN II

Plan I and Plan II are essentially the same type water transfer
investigations. Both plans are for the movement of transfer water from
central and western Arkansas and eastern Texas to a suitable terminal
storage facility in western Texas. Plan I meets the requirement for
restoration of the Ogallala Aquifer at its current level of use.
Plan II meets the requirement for the maximum estimated water available
for diversion above the estimated base flow. Plan I utilizes
1.55 million acre-feet while Plan II utilizes 8.7 million acre-feet.
These plans are discussed in greater detail in the Project Formulation
(Transfer Plans) section and are shown on Figures 8 and 9.

SELECTED PLAN

GENERAL

The purpose of this report is not to select a particular plan but
to present reconnaissance level information which, when coupled with
comparable data on other water transfer routes, can be analyzed and a
recommendation prepared. This assembly and review of information will
be accomplished by Southwestern Division in Dallas.

PROJECT FORMULATION (TRANSFER PLANS)

GENERAL

This section addresses the proposed water sources, water transport
systems and a tentatively selected terminal storage facility for the
collection and transferring of water along a corridor through central
and western Arkansas and northern Texas to a tentatively selected site
for distribution.

The proposed water source subsection includes the initial
collection, pumping and temporary storage for each site. The water
transport systems include pumping plants and conveyance systems for the
movement of transfer water to a major terminal storage site. The
terminal facilities include the major storage facility and location for
the primary distribution intake. This facility does not include a
distribution network nor the primary intake for such a system.

09
