No immediate improvement or reha- <br /> <br /> <br />bilitation of these facilities is considered necessary or provided as a <br /> <br /> <br />part of the proposed project construction. The systems have been in <br /> <br /> <br />operation for many years and such maintenance and betterment as may <br /> <br /> <br />become necessarr can be.accomplished by the several irrigation systems <br /> <br /> <br />as individual enterprises. <br /> <br /> <br />76. The Trinidad Dam and Reservoir is proposed for construction by <br /> <br /> <br />the Corps of Engineers at a site about 4 miles upstream from the City of <br />Trinidad on the Purgatoire River. The dam would be an earth fill struc- <br />ture 208 feet high above the river bed. The dam would provide facilities <br />for flood control and for the release of ,water for irrigation or other <br />purposes. Provision would also be made for the future installation of a <br />hydroelectric powerplant if further study and changing COnditions, show the <br />production of electric power to be feasible. <br />77. 1he proposed reservoir would have a total capacity of 140,700 <br />acre-feet and provide ",000 acre-feet of capacity for conservation stor- <br />age, 46,700 acre-feet for flood control and 39,000 acre-feet for sediment <br />deposi tion. <br /> <br />78...
