-.

C':;1234

.

.

,

13 ditches, ranging in capacity from one second-foot to 700 second-feet.

The diversion structures, main canals, and distribution systems are ade-

quate for the present irrigated area. No immediate improvement or reha-

bilitation of these facilities is considered necessary or provided as a

part of the proposed project construction. The systems have been in

operation for many years and such maintenance and betterment as may

become necessarr can be.accomplished by the several irrigation systems

as individual enterprises.

76. The Trinidad Dam and Reservoir is proposed for construction by

the Corps of Engineers at a site about 4 miles upstream from the City of
Trinidad on the Purgatoire River. The dam would be an earth fill struc-
ture 208 feet high above the river bed. The dam would provide facilities
for flood control and for the release of ,water for irrigation or other
purposes. Provision would also be made for the future installation of a
hydroelectric powerplant if further study and changing COnditions, show the
production of electric power to be feasible.
77. 1he proposed reservoir would have a total capacity of 140,700
acre-feet and provide ",000 acre-feet of capacity for conservation stor-
age, 46,700 acre-feet for flood control and 39,000 acre-feet for sediment
deposi tion.

78...
