BUREAU OF SPORT FISHERIES AND WILDLIFE

would require cooperation between your Bureau, the Colorado Department
of Game and Fish, and the water-user organizations for their solution.
The need for hunter access is one of the problems that would need to
be explored.

iJhen and if feasibility studies are made, our Bureau and the Colo-
rado Department of Game and Fish will enlist your cooperation in consid-
eration of the following foreseeable important needs for f'ish and wild-
life:

1. An adequate fisheries conservation pool in
Ute Park Reservoir.

2. Fishery release from Ute Park Dam and bypasses
at diversion points downstream on the \,illiams
Fork River.

3. Modification of main project canals, as necessary
to prevent loss of big-game animals.

4. Means for mitigation of losses of mule deer and
elk wintering habitat.

5. Possibilities for meeting management problems
inherent to elk and mule deer use of cultivated
lands in the proj ect area.

6. Securing hunter access to lands within the project
area, with special attention to those adjacent to
the Skylark Canal.

. The opportunity to contribute to your report is appreciated. We
recognize that the status Report is necessarily limited in scope, and
hence does not include consideration of project effects on fish and
wildlife resources. This Bureau and the Colorado Department of Game
and Fish will be pleased to cooperate with your staff in any future
planning and detailed studies of the Parshall Project.

Sincerely yours,

jsj John C.
