(2) In California, a reconnaissance of the U. S. Naval Air Missile <br />Facility, Point Arguello. Open-file reports were released on Butte Valley, <br />Sacra,mento Valley,' Furnace Creek area in Death Valley; a preliminary re- <br />port by the Inter-Agency Committee on Land SUbsidence was ~so released. <br />(3) In Nevada, a repdrt on CreScent Valley, Eureka and Lander Counties, <br />was transmitted for review; a report on Ciuinn River Valley, Humboldt <br />County, was submitted for publication as State of Nevada Water Resources <br />Bulletin 14. (4) In Utah, Pavant Valley in regard to variations in ohemi- <br />cal quality of the water; an open-file report, "The Geology and distribu- <br />tion of aquifers in southeastern San Juan Coanty, Ul:.ah", was released April <br />1956. (5) Reconnaissance of certain areas in Arizona, Nevada and Wyoming, <br />in relation to possible sites for disposal of radioactive wastes. <br /> <br />Chemical quality of water.- Records of dissolved constituents and <br />temperature of streams were oontinued, and one new weekly station was es- <br />tablished on the Weber River, Utah, Throughout the Paoifio Southwest, <br />long strides were made toward rational design of a base network for sampling <br />streams. Chemical quality of ground water was investigated in Arizona, also' '. <br />in the upper l'uerco of the West and the Gila River sub-basins of New Mexico. <br />A report, "Compilation of ohemical quali.1;~r data for ground and surface <br />waters in Utah", was submitted for publiM.tion by the Ut1:.h State Engineer. <br /> <br />Sediment._ Sediment records on streamf' have been continued. New <br />stations inolude: (1) In Arizona, daily on the Gila River at Kelvin. in <br />oQoperation with the Bureau of Reclamation; (2) :rn CalifOrnia, 2 daily <br />and 6 periodio in the Nacimiento and San Antonio River basins of the <br />Hunter-Liggett Military Reservation.
