<br />Power.--Where feasible, hydroelectric generating plants are con-
<br />structed at Bureau of Reclamation-built multipurpose structures and
<br />transmission facilities are built to deliver Federal power to load
<br />centers. Reclamation is marketing agent for all federally produced
<br />power in the Missouri River Basin.
<br />
<br />Although fiscal year 1968 saw no new hydroelectric generating plants
<br />completed, significant events took place in the transmission line con-
<br />struction program. Most important possibly was the start of construction
<br />on the first extra-high-voltage transmission line to be built by the
<br />Bureau of Reclamation in the Missouri River Basin. The new line, which
<br />links the hydroplants on the main stem of the Missouri at Fort Thompson
<br />with Nebraska distribution facilities with a terminus at Grand Island,
<br />will carry 345 kv and is now under construction over its entire 242-mile
<br />length.
<br />
<br />In the completion column for the year is the 73-mile-long Glenrock
<br />to Stegall 230-kv line which was completed early in March of 1968.
