Science

While no single definition of science would be acceplable to
everyone, in the general sense "science" embraces all of "man's efforts
to understand the natural world in which he finds himself and to use this
knowledge to make it a better place ill which to live, Thus, science can
be seen to include the ideas and concepts which scientists have created
in order to understand nalure, as well as the intellectual skills and
particular modes of thinking which are used to develop this
understanding.
Science did not develop in isolation nor does it exist in isolation from
the other activities of man. For proper perspective, science must be
presented in the context of human endeavors. The interfaces between
science and mathematics, fine arts, social sciences, language arts,
health, and other disciplines exist and must be recognized if realistic
scientific literacy is to be achieved.'

"
I

The Course of Study again stresses a comprehensive approach to
the study of science and relates its functions to all aspects of human
endeavor.
