Objective(s)
--.t

PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

A. To reduce deep percolation from irrigated fields by 33,000 acre-
feet and seepage from on-farm earthen ditches by 18,000 acre-feet. These
are annual reduction goals.

B. To reduce on-farm/off-farm salt loading by 10,800 tons/year on-
farm and by 1,200 tons/year off-farm by the end of the projected 20 year
application of the program.

C. To minimize adverse effect of salinity control practices on
wetland and wildlife habitat by identifying opportunities that will replace
wildlife values foregone.

II PLANNING ACTIVITIES

A. On-Farm and Off-Farm

~~.5~>

1. Anticipated planning will begin FY 1992 with authorization of
TA funds. Expansion of practices to be applied in this area were approved
in the FY 1991 PIP Plan. See attachment #2 for practices to be used during
planning. These practices will reduce salt loading and increase
efficiencies of irrigation systems and attaining a higher level of
irrigation water management.

B. Eligible Practices and Cost-Share Levels (1)

1.On Farm Salt Load Reduction: (SRP-l) - 70% cost share
(See attachment #2 for components and effective lifespan.)

2.0ff Farm Salt Load REduction: (SRP-2)-70% cost share
(See attachment #2 for components and effective lifespan.)

3.Permanent Wildlife Habitat: (SRP-3) - 70% cost share
(See attachment #2 for components and effective lifespan.)

4.Shallow Water Areas For Wildlife: (SRP-4) - 70% cost share
(See attachment #2 for components and effective lifespan.)

(1) Please see the attached cost share dockets for more specific
information on cost sharing.

1
