<br />r~ <br />~o <br />C) <br />.-j <br />c' <br />(" " <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br /> <br />MONTHLY PROGRESS REPORT <br />AQUATRAIN PROJECT <br />APRIL 1983 <br /> <br />1.0 INTRODUCTION <br /> <br />This report summarizes Saline Water Transport and Use Office <br />planning and related activities on the AQUATRAIN Project for <br />the previous month, anticipated activities for the next 2 months <br />and identifies current problems. The purpose of the report <br />is to inform individuals involved with AQUATRAIN of current <br />and upcoming activities so that a coordinated effort can be <br />maintained and project flag dates met. <br /> <br />2.0 SUBTEAM: WATER RIGHTS, WATER SUPPLY, STATE ISSUES <br />2.1 APRIL EVENTS <br /> <br />Met with State of Colorado's Energy and Employment Subcommittee <br />for possible involvement of minority community in project. <br /> <br />Conferred with planning team members on BLM data gathering <br />trips along corridor route. <br /> <br />Attended Washington, DC, meeting with Reclamation staff <br />to develop public involvement plans. <br /> <br />2.2 ANTICIPATED MAY EVENTS <br /> <br />May 2 - Briefing of Colorado River Basin States Salinity <br />Control Forum work group. <br /> <br />May 23 - Testimony will be given to House Interior and Insular <br />Affairs Committee Subcommittee on Mining, Forest Management, <br />and Bonneville Power Administration. It is a general hearing <br />on the competiveness of western coal and transportation. <br /> <br />May 24-26 - Meetings being set up in Washington, DC to update <br />Congressional staff and Federal personnel involved with <br />the project. <br /> <br />Plan to meet with Colorado River Basin States Salinity Control <br />Forum work group members from Wyoming, Colorado, and Utah <br />for 1 day per state during the month of May. <br /> <br />Hearing on salinity legislation. <br /> <br />2.3 ANTICIPATED JUNE EVENTS <br /> <br />June 26-28 - Rocky Mountain Coal Mining Institute meeting. <br /> <br />2.4 CURRENT PROBLEMS <br />2.5 SUMMARY OF CONTRACTING ACTIVITIES <br />
