Gallup-Navajo Indian Water Supply Project

The Southwest Region has completed evaluation of various alternatives for the

development of additional water supplies from the San Juan River to meet imme-

diate and long-term needs for the city of Gallup and several Navajo Indian com-

munities on the eastern portion of the Navajo Reservation. The Regional

Director's Planning Report/Draft Environmental Statement was submitted to the

Commissionera office on November 10, 1983. Letters of intent supporting the

project were provided by the City of Gallup and the Navajo Tribe. The accep-

table project plan propoaea an ultLDate annual diversion from the San Juan River
