The Coordinating Committee <br /> <br />Co-Chairmen may require frequent meetings of the work element teams from each <br /> <br />agency to ensure this interchange. <br /> <br />AUTHORITY AND JUSTIFICATION <br /> <br />Several authorities apply to the conduct of the individual agency (FWS, <br /> <br />USGS, WPRS) technical efforts for the Platte River Study. The FWS is carrying <br /> <br />. <br />~ <br /> <br />out the ecology and habitat evaluation under authorities of the Migratory Bird <br /> <br />Treaty Act as amended (16 U.S.C. 703 et seq.) and the Migratory Bird <br /> <br />,.. <br /> <br />Conservation Act, as amended (16 D.S.C. 715-715s). The Endangered Species Act, <br /> <br />as amended (16 D.S.C. 1531 et seq.) provides that the Secretary of the Interior <br /> <br />shall establish and implement a program to conserve endangered species by the <br /> <br />acquisition of land and utilization of other authorities under the Fish and <br /> <br />Wildlife Act, as amended (16 U.S.C. 742(a)-754) and the Fish and wildlife <br /> <br />Coordination Act, as amended (16 U.S.C. 661 et seq.). The Land and Water <br /> <br />Conservation Fund Act (78 Stat. 987), as amended also provides certain <br /> <br />authorities for this study effort. <br /> <br />Public Law 95-495, Appropriations Fiscal Year 1979, provides funding for <br /> <br />the FWS Platte River studies which are described under the Justification of <br /> <br />Program and Performance for Habitat preservation, Ecosystem Planning, in the <br /> <br />.. <br />~ <br /> <br />Department of the Interior and Related Agencies Appropriations for 1979. <br /> <br />The WPRS is carrying out its investigations under the Federal Reclamation <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Laws (Act of June 17, 1902, 32 Stat. 388, and acts amendatory thereof or <br /> <br />supplementary thereto). The Energy and Water Development Act, 1979 (HR 12928) <br /> <br />showed the funding necessary to conduct the engineering investigations of <br /> <br />proposed Federal Reclamation projects and studies of water conservation and <br /> <br />development plans and activities.
