Identify, characterize. and describe representative lakes that would <br />potentially request grass carp and fathead minnows in the upper <br />Colorado River basin, <br /> <br />2, Develop region-based stocking proposals for grass carp and fathead <br />minnows according to guidelines in the interim non.native fish <br />stocking policy for consideration by the Colorado Division of <br />Wildlife and the Recovery program. <br /> <br />3. Identify and document specific problems presented by policy <br />criteria requirements for each situation.. <br /> <br />4, Provide consultation to agency personnel on the material submitted.. <br /> <br />c.. End Products <br /> <br />I. Submittal of well researched, complete grass carp and fathead <br />minnow stocking proposals, per criteria outlined in Section II; <br />subsection B 1-5, that characterize the types of stocking situations <br />faced by the plivate aquaculture industlY in this region. <br /> <br />2.. Submittal of an understandable description of those situations and <br />policy requirements that posed the most problems for completion <br />of the management plan.. <br /> <br />3.. Submittal of recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the <br />policy for consideration by the Management and Implementation <br />Committees. <br /> <br />IV. <br /> <br />Study Area <br />Those ares within the upper Colorado River Ba,in that 'lre most likely to request <br />stocking of grass carp and fathead minnows by the pri vate sector (ie, human <br />population centers), <br /> <br />V, <br /> <br />Study Methods/Approach <br />Nine representative stocking proposals will be developed.. . Proposals for the <br />stocking of grass carp and fathead minnows will be developed for 3 flood- <br />protected lakes within the 40 year tloodplain (I in critical habitat, 1 in buffer <br />zone, I above 650IJ'), 3 lakes within the 40-100 year tloodplain (l in critical <br />habitat, I in buffer zone, 1 above 6500'), and 3 lakes above the 100 year <br />floodplain (1 adjacent to critical habitat, I adjacent to the buffer zone, 1 above <br />6500').. Representative lakes will be those within each physical t100dplain <br />location category that are closest to population centers and fall within the size <br />range of 5-30 surface acres. . <br />
