Martin and Wood Water Consultants, Inc.

Memorandum

To: Megan Gutwein

From: Krystle Ervin, E.I. and Craig Lis, P.E.

Date: November 25, 2019

Subject: Depth to Groundwater Table on Participating Farms

Background

Participating farms included in the Colorado Springs Utilities/Super Ditch Pilot Project were
reviewed to determine whether high groundwater conditions exist. Static water levels reported
in well construction reports and available as meta data within the Colorado Decision Support
System (CDSS) were reviewed. Additionally, the most recent water level reading as reported
in the Division of Water Resources (DWR) water level database available on CDSS were
reviewed. Based on these two data sources, the average depth to groundwater on the
Diamond A, Mameda, Groves, and Mayhoffer Farms is more than 12 feet. Additional research
should be done to examine potential high groundwater conditions on Schweizer Farm.

Diamond A

Water levels from wells located on the Diamond A Farm or within 100 feet of the farm ranged
from 8 to 28 feet and averaged 15.9 feet.

Mameda Farm

Water levels from wells located on the Diamond A Farm or within 100 feet of the farm ranged
from 30 to 41 feet and averaged 34.2 feet.

Groves Farm

Water levels from wells located on the Diamond A Farm or within 100 feet of the farm ranged
from 6 to 19 feet and averaged 14.5 feet.

Mayhoffer Farm

There were not any water levels available on the Mayhoffer Farm; however, a water level
reading located near Crooked Arroyo indicated a depth of 12 feet.
Martin and Wood Water Consultants, Inc.
538 Commons Drive, Golden, CO 80401
Phone: (303) 526-2600 Fax: (303) 526-2624
www.martinandwood.com
