ROV ROMER
Governor
)ERIS A. DANIELSON
Secretary
BOARD OF EXAMINERS OF WATER WELL CONSTRUCTION AND PUMP INSTALLATION CONTRACTORS
DIVISION OF WATER RESOURCES
1313 Sherman Street -Room 818
Denver, Colorado 80203
(303) 866-3581
April 2, 1991
POLICY NO. 91-2 ON EXPIRATION OF
VERBAL APPROVALS
The staff brought this matter before the Board of Examiners at their regularly scheduled meeting
on April 2, 1991. Verbal approvals are granted by the staff for the emergency construction of
wells. Occasionally, the emergency well is not constructed or drilled long after the verbal
approval has been granted. This raises the questions of how long should a verbal be valid and
how to close a file if no follow-up reports are submitted. In order to provide guidance to the staff,
the Board of examiners adopted the following policy:
Effective immediately, verbal approvals granted pursuant to Rule 18.1 shall expire
60 days from the date of issuance. All well construction operations performed
pursuant to such verbal approval shall be completed within that time unless a well
permit has been issued for the construction of the well.
This policy will be implemented by advising the drilling contractor, who is calling for the verbal,
of the expiration date. This date will also be recorded on the documentation of the verbal which
is maintained by the staff. The effective date of this policy is April 2, 1991.
+1.
Dated this day of WiQt — 1991,
4XII
Ken Rollin, Chairman
Board of Examiners of Water Well Construction
and Pump Installation Contractors
Ken Rollin.
