The Corps Storm Studies Data Sheet list the storm center at observation location No.3 northwest of Pueblo. The largest report rainfall was at location No.3 so the elevation associated with that location (5,000') is used. I 3. A W A used an upper limit for the in-place maximization factor of 1.5. HMR 55A using 1.5 east of the Orographic Separation Line. HMR 55A and HMR 57 use 1.7 for orographic regions. This limit was applied because of inadequacies of the storm sample in orographic ~egions. The storm sample for this study is not inadequate but used a relatively large number of storms that occurred in relatively close proximity. Careful examination ofHMR 55A Figure 3.1 shows that the Orographic Separation Line is close to but m~stly west of the Cherry Creek drainage basin. A W A Action: The Corps requested that the upper limit be increased but using the above discussion, A W A has ~etermined that 1.5 is the appropriate upper limit for use in this study.
