A-5
PERMEABILITY TESTS
Permeability tests were performed on two rela-
tively undisturbed samples of the core material from the
dam. The tests were performed in accordance with the
method described on Plate A-5, Method of Performing Per-
colation Tests. The results of the permeability tests
are tabulated below.
DIRECT SHEAR TESTS
Direct shear tests were performed on selected,
relatively undisturbed samples from the tailings embank-
ment and foundation materials to determine the strength
parameters of these soils. The tests were run with vary-
ing confining pressures to simulate the overburden pres-
sure in the embankment; and the test samples were also
saturated prior to testing. The tests were performed
in accordance with the procedure described on Plate A-6,
Coefficient of
Boring
Depth
Soil
Permeability
Number
(ft)
Type
(k ft/ ear)
1
51-,
SM/SC
38
1
35
SM/SC
6
DIRECT SHEAR TESTS
Direct shear tests were performed on selected,
relatively undisturbed samples from the tailings embank-
ment and foundation materials to determine the strength
parameters of these soils.
