Enforcement Items and Actions <br /> <br />Enforcement actions performed by staff this quarter are summarized below: <br /> <br />Upper Black Squirrel: <br /> <br />A complaint was submitted stating that Shannon and Arlene Cox having being using a small capacity well outside its permitted uses. A field inspection has verified the same. Staff <br /> is currently working with the owners to resolve the issue. <br /> <br />A complaint was submitted stating that Cheryl Gilbert was using her small capacity well in violation of its permit. The issue has been resolved and Mrs. Gilbert is in compliance. <br /> <br /> <br />Plains GWMD: <br /> <br />An enforcement letter was sent to Midwest farms after evidence indicated that they had failed to fulfill the administrative requirements outlined in their commingling order. Shawn Schulte, <br /> the administrative agent for the Plains GWMD, has assisted our office in resolving this matter. <br /> <br />Jack Lowe and Richard May exceeded their annual acre-foot limitations in the 2004 irrigation year. A reminder was sent to these two irrigators alerting them that they will be on notice <br /> this year and excessive pumping could lead to Cease and Desist Orders. <br /> <br />W-Y: <br /> <br />An enforcement action concerning a large capacity well owned by Anthony Schaffert has been resolved. Mr. Schaffert has fulfilled his administrative requirements. <br /> <br />Arikaree GWMD: <br /> <br />An enforcement action has been resolved concerning a large capacity well owned by Dennis Wieser. Mr. Wieser is now using his well in compliance. <br /> <br /> Miscellaneous <br /> <br />Staff met with El Paso County to discuss subdivision review procedures. <br /> <br />Staff has been working with the Republican River Water Conservation District on the consultation process for their water conservation program. <br /> <br />Staff has been working on migrating some of our Denver Basin Aquifer permitting information into digital format using GIS. <br /> <br />A member of the Designated Basins team is working with other DWR staff members in revamping the Division of Water Resources website. <br /> <br />Staff has spent time performing field inspections for large capacity change of well location applications. <br /> <br />We regretfully report that Rich Cooper of the Ground Water Commission Staff was killed in an auto accident on April 25, 2005. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Memorandum to Hal Simpson Page 3 <br />Quarterly Commission Staff Activity Report <br />May 11, 2005 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />S:\DesBasPrograms\GWC Meetings\May 2005\StaffReportMay05.doc <br /> <br />EARNEST L.
