7 <br /> <br />PLATTE RIVER BASIN <br /> <br />06707500 SOUTH PLATTE RIVER AT SOUTH PLATTE, CO <br /> <br />LOCATION.--Lat 39°24'33", long 105°10'10", SE¼ sec. 25, T.7 S., R.70 W., Jefferson County, Hydrologic Unit <br />10190002, on left bank at South Platte, 200 ft downstream from bridge on State Highway 75, and 400 <br />ft downstream from North Fork. <br /> <br />DRAINAGE AREA AND PERIOD OF RECORD.--2,579 mi²; 1910 to present. <br /> <br />GAGE.--Graphic water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry in a new concrete shelter and CMP well. A new <br />cableway also installed. Satellite telemetry is maintained by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and <br />the USGS. <br /> <br />REMARKS.--The primary record is hourly satellite readings. The record is complete. Open water record is <br />reliable, and agrees with the chart record to within 0.02 ft. when encoder and pen corrections are <br />applied. Chart record used Jan. 9-25, 1999 when the shaft encoder malfunctioned and Aug. 6, 8, 1999 <br />and Sep. 18-20, 1999 when encoder and pen corrections caused discrepancies. Stage discharge <br />relationship was ice affected Dec. 21-28, 1998. Record is good except for ice effect days, which <br />are estimated. Station maintained and record developed by Rodger L.
