3

PLATTE RIVER BASIN

06695000 SOUTH PLATTE RIVER ABOVE ELEVENMILE CANYON RESERVOIR, NEAR HARTSEL, CO

LOCATION.--Lat 38°58'03", long 105°34'51", in NE¼ sec. 32, T.12 S., R.73 W., Park County, Hydrologic Unit
10190001, on left bank 200 ft downstream from highway bridge, 2.5 mi upstream from water line of
Elevenmile Canyon Reservoir, at elevation 8,561 ft. and 13 mi southeast of Hartsel.

DRAINAGE AREA.--880 mi².

GAGE.--Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry in a wooden shelter at a 25' Parshall flume. Datum of
gage is 8,612.83 ft,(Denver Board of Water Commissioners Datum). Station is owned and maintained by
the Denver Water Dept. Satellite telemetry is maintained by the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers and
the USGS.

REMARKS.--Record is taken from hourly satellite readings, with chart back-up. Record is complete and
reliable. A -0.13 correction was applied to the GH’s from May 24-June 9, 1998 to compensate for
rocks dumped into the flume. Spinney Reservoir is 2 miles upstream. Spinney release keeps this
gage open year round. Record is good, except for the peak data and July 30. Above about 700 cfs
the Spinney staff has observed flow to by-pass the gage in a culvert to the south. Based on Spinney
diaries from 1995 flows, about 60 cfs may have been bypassing the gage at the time of the peak.
Record is developed by Robert Cooper and Denise Miller.

RATING TABLE.--PLAHARCO15 USED FROM 01-OCT-1997 TO 30-SEP-1998

DISCHARGE, IN CFS, WATER YEAR OCTOBER 1997 TO SEPTEMBER 1998
MEAN VALUES

DAY OCT NOV DEC JAN FEB MAR APR MAY JUN JUL AUG SEP

1 112 99 98 84 62 65 64 48 50 51 43 171
2 111 98 98 84 63 65 64 48 50 124 42 168
3 170 98 98 84 77 77 84 48 50 173 43 169
4 183 98 98 84 89 89 100 48 49 170 44 169
5 173 98 98 73 89 89 100 47 49 213 43 141
6 194 98 98 63 89 89 101 48 49 188 44 121
7 176 98 98 64 89 89 100 48 49 168 44 120
8 164 98 98 66 89 87 100 48 49 180 44 120
9 164 98 98 64 73 88 99 49 49 241 44 120
10 159 99 98 64 62 89 90 49 49 222 101 120
11 176 99 98 64 63 89 80 48 49 299 111 120
12 162 99 99 64 62 89 80 48 50 325 84 120
13 153 99 98 64 61 88 80 47 66 299 160 119
14 120 98 98 64 61 88 79 47 80 232 214 119
15 96 98 98 67 61 88 80 46 93 181 214 119
16 96 103 98 63 62 88 60 46 84 144 214 108
17 96 96 98 63 63 88 45 46 78 113 204 101
18 97 96 97 63 62 89 46 47 73 131 197 101
19 96 96 98 64 63 87 46 48 58 165 197 101
20 97 97 98 63 63 87 46 48 50 193 191 101
21 96 98 97 64 63 87 46 49 47 216 187 101
22 96 98 90 65 62 89 46 49 43 219 187 101
23 97 98 86 63 62 138 46 50 89 219 193 101
24 99 98 86 62 62 108 46 50 107 172 197 101
25 98 98 86 62 62 96 45 49 96 142 197 100
26 98 98 86 63 62 77 45 49 69 93 208 100
27 71 98 86 63 63 64 50 49 50 47 234 100
28 52 98 86 62 62 64 54 49 50 48 245 100
29 52 98 86 63 --- 64 48 49 50 48 198 108
30 52 98 84 62 --- 64 46 49 51 102 169 134
31 79 --- 84 62 --- 64 --- 49 --- 49 170 ---

TOTAL 3685 2943 2917 2060 1901 2623 2016 1493 1826 5167 4463 3574
MEAN 119 98.1 94.1 66.5 67.9 84.6 67.2 48.2 60.9 167 144 119
AC-FT 7310 5840 5790 4090 3770 5200 4000 2960 3620 10250 8850 7090
MAX 194 103 99 84 89 138 101 50 107 325 245 171
MIN 52 96 84 62 61 64 45 46 43 47 42 100

CAL YR 1997 TOTAL 53070 MEAN 145 MAX 543 MIN 45 AC-FT 105300
WTR YR 1998 TOTAL 34668 MEAN 95.0 MAX 325 MIN 42 AC-FT 68760

MAX DISCH 792 CFS AT 1845 30-JUL-1998 GH 3.78 FT.
