PLATTE RIVER BASIN

06752000 CACHE LA POUDRE RIVER AT MOUTH OF CANYON, NEAR FORT COLLINS, CO

LOCATION.--Lat 40°39'52", long 105°13'26", in NW¼ sec. 15, T.8 N., R.70 W., Larimer County, Hydrologic
Unit 10190007, on left bank at mouth of canyon, 0.5 mi downstream from headgate of Poudre Valley
Canal, 1.2 mi upstream from Lewistone Creek, and 9.3 mi northwest of courthouse in Fort Collins.

DRAINAGE AREA AND PERIOD OF RECORD.--1,056 mi². Sporadic and somewhat unreliable data from June 1881 to
Aug. 1883. Reliable data from Oct. 1883 to current year. Periodic water-quality data from 1962 to
1995.

GAGE.--F-type water-stage recorder and satellite monitoring in concrete shelter and well with supplemental
outside chain gage.

REMARKS.--The The primary record is hourly data taken from satellite monitoring with chart as back up. The
record is complete and reliable except for the following periods. November 27- 28, December 5-12
and 19 were ice affected; December 20-31, January 1-31, February 1-28 March 1-11 the station was
closed. Flows were estimated. Mean daily chart values were used October 27, 2002 and April 6, 2003
to correct for Daylight Savings Time. Satellite mean gage heights checked with chart values to
within ± .02 ft. As mentioned earlier a block wall was built and March 11 & 12,2003 as a
continuation of the flood hardening of this gage and this narrowed the channel beneath the cable
section by 2 feet. The record is good, except for estimated periods. Station maintained and record
developed by George Sievers.

RATING TABLE.--CLAFTCCO10 USED FROM 01-OCT-2002 TO 01-OCT-2003

DISCHARGE, IN CFS, WATER YEAR OCTOBER 2002 TO SEPTEMBER 2003
MEAN VALUES

DAY OCT NOV DEC JAN FEB MAR APR MAY JUN JUL AUG SEP

1 37 11 32 21 21 21 49 303 3010 1080 383 142
2 45 18 29 24 22 18 74 249 2620 1050 366 116
3 42 42 21 22 20 16 73 183 2300 1030 404 107
4 47 28 23 22 13 19 83 142 2050 976 431 121
5 45 29 19 23 12 15 59 124 1800 885 334 97
6 44 28 25 20 8.8 21 42 92 1580 858 306 86
7 44 24 22 23 17 20 36 70 1480 782 283 104
8 44 30 18 15 1.6 25 35 59 1330 678 239 150
9 46 28 26 15 30 24 34 62 1270 649 244 143
10 38 22 18 14 50 26 37 142 1420 663 271 133
11 40 15 25 5 32 26 62 122 1840 651 256 129
12 37 16 28 22 30 31 85 174 1640 622 277 126
13 36 18 35 39 20 30 85 260 1300 607 293 132
14 24 30 36 34 22 32 136 275 1340 580 266 145
15 14 23 31 28 20 36 290 234 1390 503 201 141
16 25 14 31 20 18 35 367 302 1430 462 185 135
17 25 14 22 19 14 38 344 394 1470 500 216 128
18 21 31 29 22 22 45 316 532 1570 572 264 123
19 19 21 18 21 25 26 283 595 1650 622 241 113
20 14 19 26 21 18 4.1 256 503 1580 650 216 95
21 10 29 19 21 19 43 235 490 1530 576 203 85
22 12 26 23 20 24 57 238 508 1480 603 153 77
23 16 26 25 20 23 53 283 635 1480 575 129 80
24 15 28 21 26 15 53 350 920 1580 551 127 80
25 22 27 23 21 8.6 44 377 1040 1580 486 128 78
26 25 35 21 23 47 47 415 1260 1440 517 123 75
27 23 36 25 27 22 62 438 1270 1310 611 118 53
28 19 35 23 35 26 44 514 1740 1070 559 113 48
29 21 35 23 17 --- 35 529 1980 1080 511 101 48
30 14 33 21 19 --- 33 489 2680 1110 508 132 47
31 9.3 --- 22 23 --- 48 --- 2720 --- 474 141 ---

TOTAL 873.3 771 760 682 601 1027.1 6614 20060 47730 20391 7144 3137
MEAN 28.2 26 25 22 21.5 33.1 220 647 1591 658 230 105
AC-FT 1730 1530 1510 1350 1190 2040 13120 39790 94670 40450 14170 6220
MAX 47 42 36 39 50 62 529 2720 3010 1080 431 150
MIN 9.3 11 18 5 1.6 4.1 34 59 1070 462 101 47

WTR YR 2003 TOTAL 109790.4 MEAN 301 MAX 3010 MIN 1.6 AC-FT 217800

MAX DISCH: 3770 CFS AT 07:00 ON Jun. 1, 2003 GH 5.86 FT.
