14

PLATE RIVER BASIN

STRAIGHT CREEK TUNNEL AT EAST PORTAL EISENHOWER TUNNEL

LOCATION.-- Lat 39°40’45”, long 105°54’12”, manhole is located in the East Portal CDOT parking lot between
the East and West bound lanes.

DRAINAGE AREA.--Eisenhower Tunnel seepage with effluent from sewage treatment facility.

GAGE.-- A 12 inch Parshall flume located in a manhole in the CDOT parking lot between eastbound and westbound
lanes of I-70. The tunnel pipeline is approximately 12 ft. underground.

REMARKS.-- The record is not rated for accuracy. The site does not have continuous record. Yearly data is
based on the interpolation of 14 user-supplied instantaneous observations of flow. However, it is
noted that weekly observations were made during May and June this year, which would make the data a
little better than in previous years when once-monthly readings were made. The parking lot is covered
with ice in the winter and such readings are not made. Gage height readings were made on the following
days: September 19, 2001; May 2, May 10, May 17, May 24, June 3, June 12, June 20, June 28, July 12,
July 18, August 16, September 27, October 7, 2002. An interpolated record of discharge was computed by
entering zero gage height for all 365 days and then entering the gage heights observed above as shifts.
This record is requested by DWR Division 5 and the Upper Colorado River Commission to complete their
accounting of transmountain diversions. Record developed by Robert E. Cooper.

RATING TABLE.--STCTUNCO STD01FTPAR USED FROM 01-OCT-2001 TO 07-OCT-2002

DISCHARGE, IN CFS, WATER YEAR OCTOBER 2001 TO SEPTEMBER 2002
MEAN VALUES

DAY OCT NOV DEC JAN FEB MAR APR MAY JUN JUL AUG SEP

1 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .55 .48 .29 .2
2 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .55 .48 .27 .2
3 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .55 .46 .27 .18
4 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .55 .46 .27 .18
5 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .55 .43 .27 .18
6 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .31 .58 .4 .27 .18
7 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .32 .58 .4 .27 .18
8 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .32 .58 .4 .27 .18
9 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .32 .61 .37 .25 .18
10 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .32 .61 .37 .25 .16
11 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .32 .61 .35 .25 .16
12 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .32 .61 .35 .25 .16
13 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .32 .61 .35 .25 .16
14 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .32 .61 .35 .25 .16
15 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .32 .61 .35 .25 .16
16 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .32 .61 .32 .25 .14
17 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .32 .61 .32 .25 .14
18 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .35 .61 .32 .25 .14
19 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .35 .61 .32 .25 .14
20 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .4 .61 .32 .25 .14
21 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .43 .61 .32 .25 .14
22 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .46 .61 .32 .22 .12
23 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .48 .58 .32 .22 .12
24 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .48 .55 .32 .22 .12
25 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .48 .55 .32 .22 .12
26 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .48 .51 .29 .22 .12
27 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .48 .51 .29 .22 .12
28 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .51 .51 .29 .22 .12
29 .29 .29 .29 .29 --- .29 .29 .51 .51 .29 .2 .14
30 .29 .29 .29 .29 --- .29 .29 .51 .48 .29 .2 .16
31 .29 --- .29 .29 --- .29 --- .55 --- .29 .2 ---

TOTAL 8.99 8.7 8.99 8.99 8.12 8.99 8.7 11.75 17.23 10.94 7.57 4.6
MEAN .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .38 .57 .35 .24 .15
AC-FT 18 17 18 18 16 18 17 23 34 22 15 9.1
MAX .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .55 .61 .48 .29 .2
MIN .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .29 .48 .29 .2 .12

WTR YR 2002 TOTAL 113.57 MEAN .31 MAX .61 MIN .12 AC-FT 225

MAX DISCH: 0.61 CFS AT 00:00 ON Jun. 10, 2002 GH 0.29 ft SHIFT 0 FT.
MAX GH: 0.29 ft FT.
