06738000 BIG THOMPSON RIVER AT MOUTH OF CANYON, NEAR DRAKE, CO

LOCATION.--Lat 40°25'18", long 105°13'34", in SW¼SW¼ sec. 3, T,5 N., R.70 W., Larimer County, Hydrologic
Unit 10190006, on right bank at mouth of canyon, 400 ft upstream from Handy Ditch diversion dam, and
6.0 mi east of Drake.

DRAINAGE AREA AND PERIOD OF RECORD.--305 mi²; 1927-1933, 1938 to present.

GAGE.--Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry and shaft encoder activated by manometer in a concrete
shelter with outside wire weight for reference. A bank-operated cableway was added in 1997 for
intermediate flow measurements.

REMARKS.--The primary record is hourly data, taken from satellite monitoring with chart back-up. Mean daily
GH values were taken from the chart on the following days when correct hourly values were not reported
via satellite: October 25,2000. The Record is complete except for the following periods: November
28 to March 5: when station was closed for winter; April 21-24; May 4-9; when inlets were plugged from
Bobcat fire ash and soil in river after heavy rains. The record is reliable, except for the following
periods: November 21-27, 2000 due to ice on the control. Record is good due to frequency of
measurements & visits and the presence of an artificial control, except for the following periods:
Record was estimated for November 21-30; December 1-31, 2000; January 1-March 5; April 21-24; May 4-9,
