06736000 NORTH FORK BIG THOMPSON RIVER AT DRAKE, CO

LOCATION.--Lat 40°20'45", long 105°26'30", NW¼ sec. 3, T.5 N., R.71 W., Larimer County, 400 ft upstream
from mouth at Drake, Co. on U. S. Highway 34 to Estes Park, Co.

DRAINAGE AREA AND PERIOD OF RECORD.--85.1 mi²; 1947 to present.

GAGE.--Graphic water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry. The graphic chart was the primary record
until Mar. 21, 1994 when a DCP and shaft encoder belonging to the DWR was installed due to the
unreliability of the NWS DCP. From then on the DCP is the primary record using the graphic chart as
backup.

REMARKS.--The primary record is hourly satellite data with chart backup. The record is complete and
reliable except for the following periods: November 7-13, when the station was ice affected.
November 14,2000 through April 3, 2001, when the station was closed for winter. May 2-10, 2001 and
August 17-20, when the inlets were plugged due to silt from the runoff from the 2000 Bobcat fire
area above the station; July 7-8, 2001, when the DCP and the recorder were off; July 26-30 chart was
used when the DCP was off. The record is good, except for the following days which are estimated:
November 4-14 2000; May 2-10; August 7-8, 17-20, 2001. Station maintained and record developed by
