06727000 BOULDER CREEK NEAR ORODELL, CO

LOCATION.--Lat 40°00'23", long 105°19'49", in NE¼SW¼ sec. 34, T.l N., R.71 W., Boulder County, Hydrologic
Unit 10190005, on left bank along State Highway 119, 0.7 mi southwest of old Orodell, 1.1 mi
upstream from Fourmile Creek, and 2.9 mi southwest of courthouse in Boulder.

DRAINAGE AREA.--102 mi².

GAGE.--Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry and shaft encoder in a 6’X6’ concrete shelter. The
DCP is the primary record with chart recorder as backup.

REMARKS.--Record is complete. It is reliable, except for days when the stage-discharge relation was
affected by ice during part or all of the day. Also, a clogged low flow inlet affected the stilling
well’s return to base flow levels following the rapid decrease in stage during the hydro plant’s
daily shutdown. These days are included in the following list: November 28 - December 31, 2000;
January 1 - March 4, 2001. The ice gets washed away by early evening releases of 60-70 cfs from the
Boulder Hydro plant located a few hundred yards upstream. Record is good, except for the period
November 28, 2000 through March 4, which is fair. Station maintained and record developed by M.L.
Cunning.
