5
PLATTE RIVER BASIN

06695000 SOUTH PLATTE RIVER ABOVE ELEVENMILE CANYON RESERVOIR NEAR HARTSEL, CO

LOCATION.--Lat 38°58'03", long 105°34'51", in NE¼ sec. 32, T.12 S., R.73 W., Park County, Hydrologic Unit
10190001, on left bank 200 ft downstream from highway bridge, 2.5 mi upstream from water line of
Elevenmile Canyon Reservoir, at elevation 8,561 ft. and 13 mi southeast of Hartsel.

DRAINAGE AREA AND PERIOD OF RECORD.--880 mi²; 1933 to present.

GAGE.--Water-stage recorder with satellite telemetry (DCP and shaft encoder) in a wooden shelter at a 25 ft.
Parshall flume. Datum of gage is 8,612.83 ft,(Denver Board of Water Commissioners Datum). Station is
owned and maintained by the Denver Water Dept. Satellite telemetry is maintained by the U. S. Army Corps
of Engineers and the USGS.

REMARKS.--Primary record is hourly data taken from satellite readings, with chart back-up. Record is complete
and reliable, except for November 9-12, 16-22, 2005 when the DCP transmission was compromised and good
chart data was used to fill in this missing data. Spinney Reservoir is 2 miles upstream. Spinney
release keeps this gage open year round. November 27 through December 19, 2005 and January 21 – 23, 2006
were estimated due to ice jams downstream causing backwater into the flume. The maximum GH recorded
occurred during the backwater period. This GH was not used as the yearly Max GH, since it did not occur
during good record. The record is good, except days of ice affected record which are considered poor.
Station operated by Garver Brown and record developed by Lee Cunning.

RATING TABLE.--STD25FTPF USED FROM 01-OCT-2005 TO 30-SEP-2006

DISCHARGE, IN CFS, WATER YEAR OCTOBER 2005 TO SEPTEMBER 2006
MEAN VALUES

DAY OCT NOV DEC JAN FEB MAR APR MAY JUN JUL AUG SEP

1 90 83 55 37 38 41 41 59 225 133 165 144
2 90 77 55 38 38 41 41 60 215 155 164 144
3 90 75 55 37 39 41 41 93 168 155 165 144
4 90 75 55 37 39 41 54 120 173 182 164 144
5 90 76 55 37 38 41 65 120 197 179 165 143
6 90 76 55 38 39 41 65 120 209 111 166 127
7 90 76 55 37 39 40 65 120 189 102 194 108
8 90 75 55 37 39 40 65 119 193 102 212 105
9 91 74 55 37 39 39 65 122 209 78 213 140
10 91 82 55 38 38 39 65 131 181 94 213 159
11 90 90 55 38 93 39 65 126 126 151 212 136
12 90 88 55 37 85 39 91 148 75 150 212 122
13 90 88 42 38 87 39 112 135 55 148 212 122
14 90 88 35 38 87 87 112 122 71 148 212 122
15 90 88 35 38 87 121 108 128 141 131 211 122
16 90 89 35 36 87 121 101 164 169 126 203 122
17 90 89 35 39 87 122 125 186 195 153 181 122
18 90 90 35 38 87 122 136 186 184 207 147 102
19 90 90 35 38 87 122 125 211 166 211 138 88
20 90 90 38 37 87 122 132 246 159 198 153 88
21 90 90 37 35 88 122 100 258 176 172 150 88
22 90 90 38 35 87 122 57 279 188 160 144 89
23 90 90 37 35 87 112 57 296 188 168 152 88
24 90 90 37 41 61 93 56 288 189 157 153 88
25 89 90 38 39 41 93 53 221 189 149 149 87
26 89 90 37 38 40 92 51 173 197 149 144 87
27 89 90 37 38 40 93 51 177 187 149 158 87
28 89 90 37 38 41 65 52 199 123 166 172 88
29 89 90 36 38 --- 41 52 199 121 178 162 88
30 89 76 38 39 --- 41 55 199 115 178 154 88
31 89 --- 37 38 --- 41 --- 199 --- 170 149 ---

TOTAL 2785 2545 1359 1164 1745 2253 2258 5204 4973 4710 5389 3382
MEAN 89.8 84.8 43.8 37.5 62.3 72.7 75.3 168 166 152 174 113
AC-FT 5520 5050 2700 2310 3460 4470 4480 10320 9860 9340 10690 6710
MAX 91 90 55 41 93 122 136 296 225 211 213 159
MIN 89 74 35 35 38 39 41 59 55 78 138 87

CAL YR 2005 TOTAL 29588 MEAN 81.1 MAX 214 MIN 33 AC-FT 58690
WTR YR 2006 TOTAL 37767 MEAN 103 MAX 296 MIN 35 AC-FT 74910

MAX DISCH: 303 CFS AT 14:45 ON May. 22, 2006 GH 2.03 FT.
