45
PLATTE RIVER BASIN

06727000 BOULDER CREEK NEAR ORODELL, CO

LOCATION.--Lat 40°00'23", long 105°19'49", in NE¼SW¼ sec. 34, T.l N., R.71 W., Boulder County, Hydrologic Unit
10190005, on left bank along State Highway 119, 0.7 mi southwest of old Orodell, 1.1 mi upstream from
Fourmile Creek, and 2.9 mi southwest of courthouse in Boulder.

DRAINAGE AREA.--102 mi².

GAGE.--Stevens A35 graphic water-stage recorder and Sutron 8210 DCP with shaft encoder in a 6 foot by 6 foot
exposed aggregate concrete shelter with a 54-inch corrugated metal well. The primary reference is a tape
down from RP. There is an outside staff gage across the stream that reads approximately 1 foot lower than
gage datum. The data collection platform (DCP) provides the primary record. The station now includes a
pressure transducer installed by Urban Drainage and Flood Control District.

REMARKS.--Primary record is taken from hourly satellite data, with graphic chart as backup. Record is complete
and reliable, except for the winter record ,January 1, 2005-March 9, 2005. The station was turned off
from January 7, 2005 through March 9, 2005. Chart record was used May 16-17; May 22-25; May 28-31;
June 2-4, June 8-20; when the DCP was plagued with multiple failures. Record is good, except for the
period January 1-March 9, 2005 which is estimated and poor due to ice. The instantaneous peak of 723 cfs
is fair as it is above the measured range of the rating. Station maintained by Russell Stroud and Lee
Cunning and record developed by Russell Stroud.

RATING TABLE.--BOCOROCO14 USED FROM 01-OCT-2004 TO 30-SEP-2005

DISCHARGE, IN CFS, WATER YEAR OCTOBER 2004 TO SEPTEMBER 2005
MEAN VALUES

DAY OCT NOV DEC JAN FEB MAR APR MAY JUN JUL AUG SEP

1 50 13 21 12 10 6 12 57 172 311 78 34
2 41 13 21 12 8 6 13 60 231 290 79 33
3 35 26 22 12 10 7 13 67 332 274 83 32
4 29 31 22 12 11 6 15 83 357 251 102 32
5 27 31 24 10 10 7 15 110 303 227 118 31
6 46 30 23 11 10 7 13 123 271 203 101 30
7 44 29 23 12 10 9 13 121 284 200 91 29
8 28 31 22 13 9 10 14 108 258 195 76 28
9 23 29 22 13 9 8 14 97 243 189 72 32
10 20 39 23 14 7 8.1 13 98 290 180 76 28
11 19 36 24 10 8 11 16 133 248 171 83 27
12 20 34 23 9 9 12 18 130 263 164 86 25
13 27 33 23 9 9 13 20 103 238 162 80 21
14 35 32 23 8 9 17 24 98 183 166 76 22
15 29 30 23 8 8 22 32 97 227 160 66 22
16 21 28 22 11 9 30 34 122 309 143 63 23
17 22 28 22 11 11 15 40 192 383 137 60 24
18 16 27 21 10 6 14 45 210 479 142 45 25
19 15 26 20 10 8 17 47 238 535 136 42 22
20 17 24 21 13 8 14 43 311 591 120 42 20
21 18 26 20 15 7 14 35 459 523 124 44 19
22 19 29 20 18 7 14 43 491 584 131 48 22
23 29 33 18 14 7 15 58 520 596 116 45 22
24 20 20 17 11 6 15 68 528 609 118 38 20
25 16 22 19 10 6 15 73 479 637 158 39 20
26 16 23 18 9 6 14 55 420 532 148 47 22
27 15 18 18 9 7 15 56 327 478 130 38 23
28 15 20 14 9 8 14 61 283 387 111 41 28
29 21 24 10 9 --- 14 59 216 365 87 40 34
30 28 20 11 8 --- 12 58 220 332 75 40 30
31 16 --- 12 10 --- 14 --- 207 --- 72 37 ---

TOTAL 777 805 622 342 233 395.1 1020 6708 11240 5091 1976 780
MEAN 25 27 20 11 8.3 12.7 34 216 375 164 64 26
AC-FT 1540 1600 1230 678 462 784 2020 13310 22290 10100 3920 1550
MAX 50 39 24 18 11 30 73 528 637 311 118 34
MIN 15 13 10 8 6 6 12 57 172 72 37 19

WTR YR 2005 TOTAL 29989.1 MEAN 82.2 MAX 637 MIN 6 AC-FT 59480

MAX DISCH: 723 CFS AT 05:15 ON Jun. 25, 2005 GH 3.41 FT.
