7 <br />PLATTE RIVER BASIN <br /> <br />06696000 SOUTH PLATTE RIVER(below Elevenmile Reservoir) NEAR LAKE GEORGE, CO <br /> <br />LOCATION.--Lat 38°54'19", long 105°28'22". in SW¼ sec. 20, T.13 S., R.72 W., Park County, Hydrologic Unit <br />10190001, on left bank 700 ft downstream from Elevenmile Canyon Reservoir and 8.2 mi southwest of town of <br />Lake George. <br /> <br />DRAINAGE AREA AND PERIOD OF RECORD.--963 mi². October 1929 to current year. Monthly data only for some <br />periods. <br /> <br />GAGE.--Water-stage recorder and satellite monitoring (DCP and shaft encoder)in a wooden shelter at a 15' Parshall <br />flume with outside staff gage. Elevation of gage is 8,458 ft from topographic map. Station is owned and <br />maintained by the Denver Water Dept. A 10-foot rectangular bypass channel is located beside the upper <br />right wingwall of the 15-foot Parshall. The channel is normally kept closed by boards. At a gage height <br />of 3.26 in the Parshall, water reaches the floor of the bypass channel. During the period Aug. 8-Sept. <br />26, 2005, the shelter was replace by a concrete structure and a Sutron SatLink 2 Logger was installed. <br /> <br />REMARKS.--Record is taken from hourly satellite data and is complete and reliable for the period of operation. <br />All telemetry was removed during the replacement of the gage house (August 8, 2005-September 26, 2005) <br />and therefore there is no gage height record for this period. The record is good, except August 8, 2005 <br />to September 26, 2005, which is estimated and considered poor.
