2
Introduction
This yearly publication provides select statistical data of surface water use and ground water well
application and permitting activity representing the seven major river basins in the state. Please
note that the data reported in this publication does not in all instances, reflect the full account of all
water use throughout the state. For more detailed information please contact your local Division
Engineer’s Office.
This year’s report includes yearly tabular data for irrigation years 2007 through 2011. We have
significantly upgraded the diversion and use reporting data system and this annual statistical report
includes additional uses on pages 3 – 7 that were not reported in older versions of this report.
Totals in tabular and graphic diversion data also include non-consumptive uses such as power
generation, recreation and minimum stream flows that inflate total values of water consumptively
used.
As in previous reports, statistics on the number of well permit applications received by county and
the major uses for the year 2011, as well as the number of wells completed by county and the
primary uses through December 31, 2011, are also included.
