YAMPA/WHITE BASIN <br /> Basinwide Conditions Assessment: <br /> The SWSI value of-0.7 indicates that for March the basin YAMPA-WHITE RIVER BASINS <br /> Surface Water Supply index History <br /> water supplies were slightly below normal. The Natural Resources <br /> Conservation Service reports April 1 snowpack as 93%of normal. - <br /> Flow at the gaging station Yampa River at Steamboat averaged - <br /> 116 cfs as compared to the 1961-1993 March average of 145 cfs. z- <br /> W <br /> The National Weather Service computes basin precipitation as 77% , - <br /> of normal during the month. ; <br /> 111 <br /> A temporary improvement to the Yampa River Basin - _, - I <br /> snowpack was the result of two snowstorms in March. Most _7- <br /> } <br /> lower elevation snow has melted and streams are ice free, although - <br /> there is still ice on most reservoirs. There has <br /> not been a significant increase in stream flows, even though the / <br /> lower elevation snow has melted.
