ARKANSAS BASIN <br /> Basinwide Conditions Assessment: <br /> The SWSI value of 1.9 indicates that for March the basin ARKANSAS RIVER BASIN <br /> water supplies were above normal. The Natural Resources surface Water Supply Index HIstory <br /> Conservation Service reports April 1 snowpack as 117% of <br /> normal. Storage in Turquoise, Twin Lakes, Pueblo, and John <br /> Martin reservoirs totaled 102% of normal on March 31. Flow at <br /> the gaging station Arkansas River near Portland averaged 409 cfs, <br /> as compared to the 1965-1993 March average of 356 cfs. The W o + E <br /> National Weather Service computes basin precipitation as 118% of <br /> normal during the month. <br /> Outlook _ <br /> The outlook for the late spring water conditions appears JAMS .67 .. JIM JAM <br /> WNTH,YEAA°' '""" "JO" '""" <br /> good. With two fairly wet snows in the last two weeks soil <br /> moisture is good. Near future outlook is promising as the <br /> snowpack is at or slightly above 100 percent of normal. <br /> ARKANSAS RIVER NR. PORTLAND <br /> FLOW BY WATER YEAR <br /> Administrative/Management ConcernsThe river call since the end of the Winter Storage <br /> Program has been steady at about 1887. This is fairly normal and <br /> allows most ditches an adequate water supply to start vegetable and <br /> alfalfa crops. Some irrigators have also been supplementing their 1 ,� <br /> di,ersions with reservoir waters. <br /> Public Use Impacts S0 <br /> The Bureau of Reclamation is continuing with their flow <br /> maintenance program.
